My husband went out with some friends and said the food was every bit of four stars! He had Steozzapreti which was fantastic! A small, quaint place ! You can't stop saying how fantastic it was guess I gotta go and try it. Lol.

The best cannolis around? Imported from Italy? Thats what I heard... was dropping off my car at a specialty neighborhood German auto repair nearby and had to try. Word on the street - or at least word on Check Please! - they serve authentic European desserts here of the best variety. Would these live up to my high expectations given I'm a dessert snob? The building itself is easily missed. It is one of those places I would walk right past - not much personality. But once I walked in I enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Lots of tables set up like a classroom - probably the best place for students to study. Windows to an exterior patio was also very inviting and full with happy customers. Some pleasant music playing and friendly help at the counter. All the desserts looked so beautiful. I tried some cannolis, the fruit tart and the Napoleon all to go. Quick transaction. Once home I eagerly tried the cannoli. Little orange candy decoration at both ends - appreciated attention to detail... but once I bit in the outside lacked the snap that I get at Stellas or Victorias in north beach in the city. Taste or flavor was great but I think since these are imported they might not be as fresh. Napoleon was more of the same. Custard was soaking into the layers - these things are probably best eaten in the morning - I purchased these in the afternoon. Also I would have liked a more interesting topping. Raspberry or chocolate or swirl design of some sort. Fruit tart was my favorite dessert. Custard and the fruit was very refreshing. Party in my mouth. The type of fruit is unusual and its very hard to find with the exception of maybe Ikea or Trader Joes in the frozen section. I think they are called lingonberries. Overall go for the atmosphere to study. Maybe go for pizza or mushroom soup or coffee or wine. I've not tried those things but plan on going back next time my car needs this or that nearby.

I really like La Scala for their amazing salads (highly recommend the La Scala and the Spinaci), their delicious pasta (which I think is pretty darn authentic) and their cozy ambience. Really nice place for a quiet, romantic dinner.

Definitely a 5/5 for excellent food with comfortable outdoor safe dining and great service. Beet salad was perfect, as was the veal and cabernet from Calistoga. Lots of parking available. Reservations via opentable recommended.
